Benefits of Renting a Vehicle over Christmas

As the leading provider of car hire in North Shropshire, we understand that Christmas can be a stressful time of year for our customers. Organising journeys, collecting family and friends, and making the inevitable trip back home.

This month we’ve decided to highlight just how easy Christmas can be if you decide to rent a vehicle instead.

Get the newest option

Vehicle rental companies offer some of the newest models on the market. For example, Fourways Self Drive has a range of vehicles available, all less than 12 months old.

You’ll be able to take your journey in a vehicle that’s modern, comfortable and safe, ideal for long trips with the family in tow. Safety regulations are constantly evolving, and all our newer models adhere to them.

Breakdown cover

Every vehicle hire company provides breakdown cover with their rentals, so you no longer have to worry about whether the family car is going to make the journey or not.

In the unlikely event of a breakdown, you’ll be able to find the emergency contact information in your vehicle or on your rental agreement. The advisor will be able to organise the breakdown assistance to find your location, so you can keep the family calm whilst they come and find you.

Safety first

Similar to the above, rental vehicles are checked both internally and externally on a regular basis. If you’re worried about the condition of your family car, then renting could be the best option for you.

These checks include:

  • Engines; including oil and ad blue
  • Lights, both internal and external
  • Body work
  • Tyres and windscreens

Renting a vehicle over Christmas gives you the peace of mind that you can make your journey in comfort in a vehicle that is of the highest standard. The provider will complete a pre-rental assessment with you, so if you do have any concerns then that would be the time to raise them. This also gives you the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the vehicle and its controls.

Extended test drive

This might sound strange, but if you’re in the market for a new car, renting the same model can give you an extended test drive. The roads are always going to be busier over the Christmas period, and sitting in traffic gives you the chance to get a feel for the interior as a whole.

Split the cost

Space is a premium these days, and the same applies to cars. For families, it can be especially hard to organise lifts when everyone lives in different locations. If you’re going to be travelling in a group, then renting a vehicle means that you can split that overall cost between you.

Just make sure that you can add additional drivers onto the policy before you book. They will have to supply the same documents as the main driver, but always enquire first before they get behind the wheel.

Give yourself space

Gone are the days you have to organise presents and suitcases like a Tetris puzzle. Renting a larger vehicle gives you more room when travelling, taking away the stress of packing before you leave, and unpacking when you arrive.

Not only that, if you’re travelling to an unfamiliar location, then a larger vehicle gives you increased visibility in those jam-packed car parks or narrow sideroads. This means you’ll always be able to see approaching traffic and meandering pedestrians.

Keep the kids separate

With a larger vehicle, you no longer have to worry about cries of “he’s on my chair” or “she’s kicking me”. If you’re travelling with children, especially on longer journeys, it’s important to give them enough space to entertain themselves whilst you focus on the road.

So don’t worry about driving at Christmas, there’s no need to. Renting a vehicle is one of the most practical ways to enjoy your time with friends and family, whilst not worrying about the journey there and back.
