It’s a sporty month for Fourways Self Drive
This month has been a sporty one for Fourways Self Drive and we have a few exciting things to update you on.
As you may know, we proudly sponsor local women’s cricketer, Evelyn Jones. It’s been a while since we last spoke, so we caught up with her to see how she’s been getting on.
‘Since my last write up before Christmas and our training camp to Sri Lanka, I’ve had a steady few months of training and working. I am still coaching in schools around the north part of the county everyday and helping out with the Shropshire county girls programme when I am around.
Training has been going well, I am completing three weights sessions a week in the gym, plus running and sprint sessions, which are keeping me busy and getting me physically prepared for the season. I train with Staffordshire EPA boys twice a week over in Stafford and Newcastle during the evenings, which has been really beneficial to my game. I’ve also been travelling to Loughborough every other weekend for training camps with England.
Looking ahead to the future, I am off to Sri Lanka on Tuesday 22nd March for 3 weeks to compete in a Tri-Series against Sri Lanka and Australia’s Shooting Stars (academy). I can’t wait for us to get out there as a squad and compete against the next best of the two countries.
As any cricketer will tell you, the winter is a long time, so pre season is always an exciting time. When I return, the cricket season will be upon us. My county team, Staffordshire, got promoted to Division 1 (premier league of women’s cricket) so it’s going to be a big season for us! Also, the new ‘WCSL’ – Women’s Cricket Super League (T20) is starting this year, which is a fantastic opportunity for women to showcase their talents. There are six host teams and player signings are being released in the next few weeks.
Thanks for your continued support!’
We’re also proudly supporting the Jeff Stelling Men United charity walk. The Sky Sports presenter is walking 262 miles in 10 days from Hartlepool United to Wembley Stadium to help beat prostate cancer.
We’ve had the pleasure of supplying an MPV for the duration. Our Self Drive Manager, Andy Millichamp, walked the first 26 miles on Monday 21st March with Jeff and his team. On the last day, Andy Williams (from Fourways Vehicle Solutions) and Andy Millichamp will both be walking the last leg, along with a couple of our drivers from Self Drive.
If you’d like to support us in raising money for this really worthwhile cause you can donate to our fundraising page. The Fourways team would hugely appreciate any support! Connect with us on Facebook and Twitter to see updates and pictures from Andy M and Andy W along the way!
